Jerome Zürcher

Jerome Zürcher is an incoming tenure-track Programme Leader at the Medical Research Council Laboratory of Molecular Biology (MRC LMB) and an incoming junior research fellow at Trinity College, Cambridge.

Jerome was born and raised in Switzerland. He completed an undergraduate degree in interdisciplinary sciences at ETH in Zurich, pursuing dissertation research at Harvard Medical School under Prof. Pamela Silver. He also obtained a Master’s degree in interdisciplinary science from ETH, where he was in the Excellence Scholar and Opportunity Programme (ESOP). For his PhD, he worked under Prof. Jason Chin at the MRC LMB, where he developed approaches to rapidly synthesize DNA at the megabase scale and pioneered genetic code refactoring for the bi-directional genetic isolation of organisms.
